AURA – The Story: The Reasons Why I Picked AURA For My Business Name
I was recently asked why I selected the name AURA for my business. As a child growing up I longed to travel overseas as many of my friends and family at the time were ‘flying’ away to exotic destinations.
My imagination conjured up all sorts of weird and wonderful adventures hearing about their holidays. Sometimes I was lucky enough to receive gifts from these exotic shores e.g. a Spanish dancer doll, a Spanish lace fan, castanets and a leather model/toy camel from Egypt.
Needless to say when I reached 18 years of age my travels began with a trip to Paris. It was glorious to see the famous sites, experience the culture, the food, the atmosphere, the people, etc. What I noticed was how friendly people were towards me, which I hadn’t expected as I’d been told to be wary of strangers, don’t trust anyone, be careful! I was quite fearful and didn’t know what to expect but my desire to travel was so great that the words of Susan Jeffers ‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’ prevailed.
I very quickly discovered that many people I met on my foreign visits were friendly, helpful, kind-hearted, and several are close friends of mine to this day. Some of these friendships spanning over three decades, where communication has remained constant before mobile phones, email and social media. When I tell people they are often amazed by the stories of these encounters and how they’ve withstood the test of time. I enjoy pondering such questions and when I did so and discussed with my overseas friends discovered that our encounters had been triggered by something I’d never really considered before – a mutual energetic attraction. Most of them commented that I’ve an Aura that prompted them to ‘connect’ with me and I felt the same about their energetic presence!
According to Dictionary.com the meaning of AURA [awr-uh] is –
1. a distinctive and pervasive quality or character; air; atmosphere:
an aura of respectability; an aura of friendliness.
2. a subtly pervasive quality or atmosphere seen as emanating from a person, place, or thing.
3. Pathology. a sensation, as of lights or a current of warm or cold air, preceding an attack of migraine or epilepsy.
Albert Einstein said “Everything is energy.” The more time I spend on this beautiful planet Earth, the more acutely aware I am of the unique energies of individuals, animals, plants, lakes, mountains, and our connection to everything.
In James Redfield’s book The Celestine Prophecy he states ‘There is no such thing as co-incidence’, implying that everything happens for a reason, through a universal network – interconnectedness. I truly believe this, including the good, bad and ugly stuff!
AURA was my first and only choice as a business name because it is all encompassing, is the essence of my nature, a celebration of my interconnectedness with all things and the Universe as a whole.
So I’ve a question you may wish to ponder – in the current age of technology, frenetic lifestyles, are we in fact becoming more or less ‘connected’ to each other, our environment, the seasons, etc.?
