Why I’m Hosting a Menopause Café

It has inspired me to set-up one locally as I know there are many who are experiencing this time of life, often suffering in silence, not sure where to turn for support, confused about possible treatments, coping strategies, frustrated by lack of understanding from family, friends, colleagues and employers.

I hosted Menopause Cafe Ystrad Mynach in February 2019 and we quickly outgrew our first venue after three meetings. I have discovered that daytime attendance is limited and now offer a monthly Menopause Cafe in Blackwood, combining some evening slots.

We included a lovely ‘walk and talk’ before this month’s Menopause Cafe which was well-attended even in the rain! We all warmed-up over hot drinks, toasted tea cakes and welsh cakes, with hot topics of conversation.

One of the attendees brought her 1 year grandson along to join us, which was a delight.

The next Menopause Cafe Blackwood will take place on Friday 5th July 2019 6.30-7.30pm ‘walk and talk’ and 7.30-8.30pm at the bar Maes Manor Hotel, Blackwood, NP12 0BD. No booking is required but please contact me for further information on geri@aurayoga.co.uk.
